Uptodown safe ? Another question asked too many times by download geeks as “Softonic Safe ?” question. Uptodown is located in Spain as its competitor Softonic. It uses same method for SEO. What is this method? Of course, subdomain method. They pretend to be official website of the file when people look at the domain because all file title is located on front of main domain as subdomain.
Uptodown Safe or Not? I explain with Screenshots
When I visit the home page it uses google auth and automatically asks me to sign in via my google account. It does not disturb as its competitor asking for notifications. On the other hand, I think this is also useless and disturbs little bit. Whenever I see it, I close it immediately. You can ask it while commenting or doing anything which signing up is needed.
After that, when I click any file’s page. I see a big ads which deceive visitors to click and download the original file but, it is sponsored ad file and it may have security risks.
As yo see, the add is so disturbing and may deceive visitors. The actual download button is at the bottom left part but it is tinier than ad download button. It is disgusting.
After clicking button, it does not download, it brings you to the another and latest download page, but why are they need more one page and make complex for visitor? Because they want to more money with an extra more 1 page to view an extra one more ad that can be clicked by visitors mistakenly. It is ridiculus.
As you see, actual latest download button is on the deeeeeeepppppp bottom :)) It is a shame…
Ok, let’s click on the security symbol near the file title. We see virus total link with sha code. It is very nice, I did not wait for this, actually. They did a good job. It shows result of the scan of Virustotal.
